The Original La Stone Massage is a blissful, deeply relaxing treatment for the body, mind and spirit. Heated basalt stones or Himalayan salt shaped "stones"  are skillfully used throughout the treatment to melt away the most stubborn knots and tension. Basalt stones are powerful thermotherapy and provide deep relief of muscle pain, soreness and spasms. Himalayan salt contains over 80 minerals and are grounding, detoxing and balancing. Christine has been a Certified Hot Stone Practitioner since 1999 and is pleased to offer both modalities at Hand and Stone.

Maternity Massage

Maternity Massage is a style of bodywork designed specifically for pregnant women. Pregnancy is a time when a woman's body may endure tremendous stress due to dramatic physical and emotional changes. Using various techniques specially developed for the expecting mother, Maternity Massage helps release the pain and discomfort experienced throughout pregnancy. The benefits are profound, including emotional support, the relief of joint pain due to extra weight and postural imbalance, and improved breathing and relaxation. Christine uses the Body Cushion System, which supports the pregnant woman's body in all stages, and enables the woman to lie face down in total comfort.

Cancer/Oncology Massage

Oncology Massage is a special type of massage developed specifically for cancer patients. Cancer patients have unique needs which must be addressed to make sure that a massage is beneficial to their health. Massage for the cancer patient in active treatment is gentle, supportive and nurturing. Christine is also trained to massage post-operative scars due to mastectomy or lumpectomy.

Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese form of energy work that cleanses and balances the energy system in the body. As a result, the body's natural self-healing mechanisms strengthen, helping to establish optimum health. During a session, I work directly with your energy field to remove blockages, detoxify your system, and restore your vital life force energy. Reiki utilizes a gentle laying on of hands to conduct the necessary energy force between us. The benefits of Reiki range from the release of habitual mental/emotional stress to alleviating chronic pain.

Thai Massage

Thai Massage is traditionally practiced on the floor with the client fully clothed but certain techniques may be used during a table massage. Sometimes referred to as "yoga for lazy people", a Thai massage incorporates stretching, and slow, deep pressure to release tension and increase flexibility. Christine received her certification in Northern Thai Massage in August 2016.

Cupping or Decompression Therapy

Cupping or Decompression Therapy is an excellent add on therapy or stand alone deep tissue massage treatment. Flexible silicone cups are used to create negative pressure which increases blood flow, breaks up scar tissue and promotes fast relief of muscular tension. It's reported that 5 minutes of cupping therapy is equal to 30 minutes of deep tissue massage! The cups are moved over the skin continually to avoid leaving marks. More benefits of cupping include: improved mobility, myofascial release, increased athletic performance and accelerated muscle recovery, encourages lymphatic drainage and may reduce cellulite.
